The SLICES-FR Research Infrastructure (Scientific Large Scale Infrastructure for Computing/Communication Experimental Studies – France) aims to unify access to experimental services in the fields of network protocols, radio technologies, Internet of Things, services and data collection as well as parallel and distributed computing.
Started in 2022, SLICES-FR brings together around fifteen ESR establishments in France and is aimed at researchers from the academic and industrial sectors, but also at students.
Beyond the French landscape, SLICES-FR goes beyond borders by participating in the construction of the European Research Infrastructure SLICES-RI (Research Infrastructure) which has 15 partner countries for an expected operating period until 2040.
European users of SLICES-RI will have access to equipment operated by SLICES-FR and conversely, French users registered on SLICES-RI will benefit from access to equipment from European partners.
Apart from other European infrastructures dedicated to fundamental sciences, SLICES-RI is the first ESFRI-labeled infrastructure dedicated to computer science research.
